Jack M. Plastow, Sr. Obituary

Jack M. Plastow, Sr., age 88, of North Canton, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. He was born on December 8, 1933, in Canton, Ohio to the late Lynnwood J. and Ethelinda F. (Seefong) Plastow. He attended McKinley and Lehman High Schools. He was a Navy Veteran (navigator) of the Korean War and also served in the Ohio Army National Guard and the Ohio Air National Guard. He retired from Teledyne Monarch of Hartville, Ohio, where he was the Environmental Control Manager of the Water Treatment Plant.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Donald L. (Rebecca) Plastow of Bowie, Maryland, and his eldest daughter, Peggy A. (Plastow) Menapace. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Hazel I. (Blattert) Plastow, their children, Denise (Dr. Dan) Ramsey of Plymouth, Minnesota, Jack (Tammy) Plastow, Jr. of Canton, Stephanie (Jeff) Hite of North Canton, a very dear nephew, Ron Perkins of Elkton, Maryland, 12 grandchildren: Jennifer (Brian) Zacharias, Sara (Charles) Sweet, Jon (Amanda) Plastow, Tara Gerber (Dale Burnside), Kristina (Jay) Cline, Mike Plastow, Tim (Sarah) Plastow, Sam (Mandi) Plastow, Julie (Aaron) Gressel, Jeff Hite, Jr., Jackie Ramsey, and Jordan Hite, and 17 great-grandchildren: Anthony Cross, Aeden & Erica Zacharias; Madelyn, Emery & Tristan Sweet; Grace & Nora Plastow; Alaina (Gerber) Pitts; Justine, Owen & Scarlett Cline; Ryker & Hadley Plastow; Nolan Plastow; Reagan & Ryan Gressel. Another great-grandchild is due in June. He enjoyed all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he had a tender heart for all babies, kittens, and puppies.

Throughout life, Jack embodied the perfect blend of being distinguished and mischievous. As a patriotic man, he was deeply moved at the playing of The National Anthem and other patriotic songs. He enjoyed listening to his classical and big band records, talking about world history and geography, playing cards, and watching classic movies, such as The Three Stooges and Laurel & Hardy.

A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 20th starting at 2:00 pm at Canton Grace Brethren Church (6283 Market Ave. N., Canton, OH 44720).
