ZANESVILLE

John William Fisher, 67, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away suddenly on January 25, 2022. He was born on June 29, 1954 to William and Rosemary Fisher, who preceded him in death, as did his grandparents and many aunts and uncles (including his Uncle Dave Andrews, to whom he was very close.)

He’s survived by sisters: MaryJo of Logan, Becky Huffman (Bob Hall), Molly Smith (Mike) and Jane Lenhart (Sam); brothers: Rick (Roxi), Jim, Paul (Maxine), Mark (Michele) and Patrick (Christy), all who live in the Zanesville area; as well as 21 nieces and nephews and their families. He is also survived by aunts: Dorothy Andrews, Rita (Marvin) Walker, Margaret (Charlie) Miller, Marilyn (Dave) Smith, Joanne Andrews, Evelyn Andrews and Priscilla Andrews and their families.

John graduated from WMHS in 1972. He worked for Owens-Corning for 41 years and was so glad when he was finally able to retire! He was a member of St. Thomas Church.

He was last to leave the family home of 55 years and had just settled into his first place of his own. We were all a little surprised that he became a cat person late in his life! He mourned the loss of his first cat, Midge, and had just adopted his new cat, Bizzy, recently. He doted on them both.

He was a great reader, liked to watch sports with family, and was the most generous host of family holiday get-togethers at the old home place. He had a wide variety of other interests, including genealogy.

If you needed him, he was always there— his family was his world. From helping with construction, pitching in to help family move, acting as sous chef in the kitchen, (indispensable to sisters preparing meals for our crowd!), he was always willing to lend a hand. He gave the most solid and comforting hugs. He was such a big hearted guy.

He will be so missed! Gone so suddenly and too soon; much loved.
