Sr. Ann Marie Lennon Obituary

Brighton: Sister Anne Marie was called home by her God on January 25, 2022 during her 75th year as a Sister of Mercy. Sister Anne Marie entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1947. She began her teaching career at Our Lady of Mercy High School and served there in ministry, with brief interruptions, for twenty-nine years. She held a BS on Chemistry from St. Bonaventure University, an MST in Chemistry from St. Louis University as well as NYS certification in Mathematics and Physics.

In addition to teaching, she was Director of the Junior Professed sisters, and served as a member of the Formation Team. She was actively involved in regional and community commissions and committees for many years, notably on those concerned with matters of government.

Following a third world experience with our sisters in Chile, she chose pastoral ministry as a second career, accepting positions at St. Monica and St. Andrew Parishes. She then attended Weston School of Theology where she received a Master’s in Theological Studies.

She is survived by her niece and nephews, Anne Cerone, Charles McAlpine, David McAlpine, Kenneth McAlpine, many grand nieces and nephews, and the Sisters of Mercy.

Due to the inclement weather, friends are invited to the Mercy Center Chapel for the Burial Service honoring Sister Anne Marie Lennon on Friday, January 28 at 10:00 AM. Donations in her memory may be made to the Sisters of Mercy, 1437 Blossom Road, Rochester, NY 14610
