Gene Pomeroy
Gene Pomeroy, 61, of Winterset, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines. A celebration of life where family will be present to greet friends will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home Winterset Chapel. Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation. Gene was born in Niles, Illinois on August 4, 1960, the son of Kerry and Vera (Prouty) Pomeroy. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1979 and received his BA from Iowa State University. He was united in marriage to Sherre Nelson on September 18, 1993 and to this union four sons were born. Gene loved his family and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He loved hunting and fishing, especially with his sons. He enjoyed coaching his sons and other children. He also loved watching his sons play sports and ride motocross. He is survived by his parents, Kerry and Vera Pomeroy; his wife of 28 years, Sherre Pomeroy; his sons, Cody, Mitchell, Nick and Tyler Pomeroy; brother, Tim Pomeroy; sisters, Barb (Kary) Nieuwenhuis and Susan Hetzel; nieces, Megan and Ellen Hetzel; and nephew, Nathan Pomeroy.Obituary
