Gary Wayne Williams Obituary

The Williams Family is devastated at the sudden loss of the most loving, devoted, and generous man we have ever known. Gary was fierce, he was our foundation, and he will be forever missed. On Friday, January 21, 2022, Gary Wayne “Papa Guy” Williams loving husband, father of four children, grandfather of 11 and great grandfather of two passed away at the age of 67. Gary was born on December 10, 1954 in Kansas to Henry and Maxine (Cheeseman) Williams. On June 25, 1977 he married the love of his life, Tammy Joann Parrish. If you asked him, he would say his greatest accomplishment is his children: Christy (Donald) Kibbe, Ryan and Lori Williams, Samantha (Robert) Iodice and Mackenzie (Christopher) Larem. Gary is the extremely proud grandfather to Madysun (Dylan Kimak), Ashton, Sommer, John, Lucy, Harrison, Charlie, Harlow, Oliver, Roland and Penny and the great grandfather of Teddy and Brierty. Gary had an extreme passion for music, often taking control of the playlist at every family get together. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Glen Ellyn Fire Company. Gary would tell the most incredible stories (often too far fetched to believe) of his travels, his time in the Navy, Moody Burger and the time he hitchhiked home in December from Florida with only the shorts on his body. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Henry and his mother, Maxine and brothers Glen and Jack. He is survived by his parent-in-laws Donald and Marilyn Parrish, wife Tammy, his four children, eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, five siblings and many nieces and nephews. Rest in glory Gary, we love you. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Williams-Kempp Funeral Home at 430 E. Roosevelt Road in Wheaton from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the National Alliance on Mental Health at www.nami.org.
