Anne Obuck

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><em>Anne Obuck</em></strong>, beloved wife of the Late Dan Obuck of Yorkton, passed away on January 23, 2022 at the age of 100. Anne was born on February 13, 1921 to Anton and Donia Smysnuik in the Churchill district north of Ituna, Saskatchewan, the first of ten children.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Anne was united in marriage to Dan Obuck on May 22, 1938 at Sacred Heart Church in Ituna. Together, they farmed until 1967 when they moved to Yorkton. They loved to travel, visit family and support their parish and community. Anne was a devoted member of St. Mary&#39;s Church, sang in the choir&nbsp; and became a dedicated member of St. Mary&rsquo;s Ukrainian Catholic Church UCWL, which she was honored as a 90+ year old member.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">She was a full-time homemaker and cherished her family above all else. Mom excelled in home cooking, baking and preserving the vegetables and fruit&nbsp;that she grew in her garden. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting. Her grandchildren reaped the rewards of her baking (especially the jam-jam cookies which the recipe has been passed down from her mother). Mom also enjoyed working outside the home. Her passion for cooking meals was one she shared by being a cook at Sacred Heart Academy, St. Mary&rsquo;s Cultural Center and the Fathers at St. Mary&rsquo;s Church.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">In September 2002, Mom moved to Saskatoon to St. Volodymyr Villa and took pride in keeping the Chapel pristine, changing the flowers for every occasion, and helping lead the singing. Mom enjoyed cooking for family members or any visitors that came to visit. She always had cabbage rolls and perogies ready. Her love of cooking was appreciated by all. She cooked for herself until she moved into the Assisted Living in the Villa in December 2020. In June of 2021, Mom was hospitalized and moved into St. Joseph&rsquo;s Nursing Care Home. Mom turned 100 on February 13th of last year and due to the Covid lockdown we celebrated her birthday in August with family members and St. Volodymyr residents.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life: daughter <strong><em>Nadia</em> </strong>(Lawrence) Herasymuik of Melville, <em>Greg</em> (Kathy), Matthew (Jenna), Zenon; <em>Terri</em> (Garry) Halyk, Joanna (Josh) Toews, Garrett (Kara), Yoli, Kyle;<em> Karen</em> (Allan) Lutz, Derek (Meghan), Holden, Travis; <em>Denise </em>(Ed) Teskey, Brett (Shayla), Chad<em>; Marcia</em> (Kelly) Sanheim, Nathan; daughter <strong><em>June</em></strong>&nbsp;(Victor) Rodych of Saskatoon, <em>Cory</em> (Kendra), Cole, Riley; <em>Melissa</em> (Curtis) Meier, &nbsp;Matthew (Kristen), Samantha, William; daughter <strong><em>Muriel</em></strong> (Eugene) Fedorowich of Yorkton, <em>Josh</em> (Adrienne), Tansley, Kashton; <em>Drew.</em> Son, <strong><em>David</em> </strong>(Liana) Obuck of Calgary, Alta.&nbsp;<em>Adam</em> (Britt), Ethan, Victoria, Elizabeth; <em>Crystal</em>;&nbsp; <em>Vanessa</em> (Danny) Warrack, Peyton, Maci, Rhett; <em>Rachel</em> (Chris) Moch. She is also survived by her sisters, Sister Florentine Smysnuik, Helen Stewart, Lillian (Joe) Gelowitz and brother Nester (Natalie) Smysnuik, her sisters-in-law, Rose Smysnuik and Sophie Obuch and also numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.<br /><br />Anne was predeceased by her beloved husband Dan, Son Zenon, parents Anton &amp; Donia, Grandaughter Jennifer Obuck, brothers Anthony and Stanley, sisters Kay Balanuik, Martha Spilchak, Natalie Zalusky and three infant siblings, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">The Funeral Liturgy was held on Thursday, January 27th at St. Mary&rsquo;s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Most Rev. Bishop Peter Stasiuk and Rev. Fr. Yevhen Zadorozhnyi concelebrating. The interment followed in Yorkton Memorial Gardens.</p><p><strong>Вічная Пам&#39;ять&nbsp; -&nbsp;&nbsp; Eternal Memory</strong></p>
