          Mrs. Mildred Helen Jenkins Cassidy, age 89, entered into rest on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at her home. Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Bro. Tommy Bailey with burial to follow in the St. John Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

 

          Due to COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. We also ask all guests and family members attending visitations and services to please continue social distancing and if desired to bring and wear a mask.

 

          Mrs. Cassidy was born August 3, 1932 in Brownfield, TX a daughter of the late Clyde and Lennie Collier Jenkins. She and her family lived in the Lubbock, TX area where she attended the Church of Christ and was very active in the daily Bible study with her church. Mrs. Cassidy was a retired employee of JC Penney. Following her retirement, she and her family moved to Chesterfield, SC. Mildred enjoyed sewing, bird watching, gardening and was known for her green thumb.

 

          In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cassidy was also preceded in death by her husbands, Sam B. Shami, and B.C. Cassidy, Jr.; daughters, Leila Shami Cobb, and Donna Ruth Brown; brothers, Merril, Melvin, and Jesse Jenkins, and one infant brother.

 

          Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Shami of Chesterfield, SC, and Selma Taylor of MO; grandchildren, Madison Shami of Atlanta, GA, and Cameron Blain of KS; great grandchildren, Gabrielle Blain, Ethan Blain, and Jasmine Hall; sister, Carolyn Jenkins Brown of Chesterfield, SC; step-children, Todd (Teresa) Cassidy, and Derry Cassidy and their families along with the families of the late Doyle and Lynn Cassidy; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

 

          Memorials may be made to St. John Freewill Baptist Church, “Cemetery Fund,” c/o Mrs. Shelby Bailey, 1213 St. John Church Road, Patrick, SC 29584.
