Fern Dolores Culver: 10- 7 - 1926 Fern Dolores Culver was born in Wilmer Minnesota. Her father, Alfred Anfinson, was an immigrant from Starvanger Norway. He left Norway at 12 years of age on a square rigged deep sea ship, he later gained his US citizenship by serving in the US Army during World War 1. He settled in Wilmer Minnesota and later, Quincy Massachusetts. Fern’s mother, Hedvig Anfinson was an immigrant from Sindsbyn, Varmland, Sweden. They lived in Minnesota until Fern was 4 years old and moved to Quincy Massachusetts where she went to school. After graduating she enlisted in the US Army Nurse Corps, Quincy City Hospital. She was a 2nd Lt and was awarded the National Defense Medal for service during the Korean war. She met her husband, Capt. John A Culver, while in the service and later married and had three children, Joel, Amy and Julie. They lived in 14 states while her husband was on active duty and finally settled in Lee New Hampshire and later retired in Seabrook New Hampshire. They celebrated 63 years of marriage until John passed away in 2013. Fern worked as registered nurse for many years but her true love was drawing, painting, quilting and knitting. When she lived in Lee New Hampshire, she belonged to the Durham art club and had many of her paintings exhibited in the New England Center. She was also an avid reader and loved biographies. Fern is predeceased by her husband, John; brother, Russell Anfinson; sister, Ruby Milne; and sister, Francis Guy. Fern is survived by her three children, Joel Culver of Falmouth Maine; Amy Davis of Gouldsboro, Maine and Julie Porter of Dover, New Hampshire. She has 9 Grandchildren: John Davis, Andrew Davis, Natalie Bunting, Ingrid Ward, Bridget Burnett, Brianna Burnett, Rebecca Fluet, Wesley Culver, Elizabeth Harder, and many great grandchildren. Growing up during the great depression and endless wars, hard work was the rule of the day and she worked hard to survive and achieve a comfortable life. There are no calling hours. Graveside service and burial with military honors are pending and Monday, February 7, 2022 at 1:45 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Massachusetts with her husband, John.
