Ethel Ann Herlen

Ethel was born on August 20, 1922. She was the second oldest child of George and Jean Lyons.<br>She married Albert Elof Herlen on November 21, 1942 in Star City, SK. Ethel and Elof had 2 daughters, Cheryl Christine and Ellen Ann. They moved to Clemenceau in 1945, where they became involved in the community. Ethel became a member of the Clemenceau Ladies Club. <br> In the winter while living in Clemenceau and later when they moved to the farm she looked after the girls, and did the chores that included the animals ,making sure we had water , by melting snow, and chopping wood for heat. Elof was away working in Alberta or at bush camps. Ethel also helped with the farm work and it the fields alongside Elof she also had a large garden and, berry picking along with canning for the winter ahead. In the winter of 1965 to 1967 they moved in to Hudson Bay for the winter. Ethel worked at the Pioneer Lodge during the night doing housekeeping. Ethel was also a member of the United Church Ladies. She was always there to look after the grandchildren. They would take the grandchildren on many camping trips, to Melfort fair, and just took them to their place for a few days. Ethel enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing along with many other crafts. We all have many of the Afghans, doilies and quilts she made. <br>After selling their farm the moved to Starlight trailer court then into Hudson Bay several years later. They sold their home and in 2000 they moved into Churchill Place. In 2003 Ethel and Elof celebrated their 61 wedding Anniversary. Elof passed away in Feb. 2004 and Ethel moved into a smaller unit in Churchill Place until she moved into Level 4 in Hudson Bay in 2014. This is where she lived for the next 8 years until her passing. <br>Ethel is survived by her 2 daughters, Cheryl [Bob}, and Ellen [Lorne], Grandchildren, Darrin Grant, Carla [Greg] Sidorchuk, Troy [Sheri] Grant, Kevin [Carleen] Grant, Pam [Gary] Cleverley, Brent [Jean] Martindale, Evan [Shauna] Martindale, [Sandy] Martindale. Great-Grandchildren, Kimberly Carriere [Roger], Devin [Mellissa] Sidorchuk, Katelyn [Anthony] Schnettler, Megan Grant [Mark], Madison Grant, Michael [Alison] Cleverley, Garrett Cleverley, Alexa and Zane Martindale, Breanna Martindale [Brady], Raydin and Londyn Martindale. Great- Great Grandchildren Alex, Connor, and Theo Carriere, Jackson and Lucas Schnettler, Paislee and Eli Cleverley. 2 sisters Evelyn and Verlie, and 1 brother Murray also many nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeased by her husband Elof, grandson Kim Martindale, her parents and sisters Olive, Irene, Rhonda, Stella and Lorna, brothers-in -law Gordon,Harry, Alan, Gerald and Lawrence.<br><br>

She married Albert Elof Herlen on November 21, 1942 in Star City, SK. Ethel and Elof had 2 daughters, Cheryl Christine and Ellen Ann. They moved to Clemenceau in 1945, where they became involved in the community. Ethel became a member of the Clemenceau Ladies Club.
