Ernest C. “Ernie” Rains, 82, of New Castle passed away on Friday January 14th, 2022, peacefully at his home. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Ernie was born December 19th, 1939, in New Castle, Indiana to the late Opal “Bob” & Dorothy (Smith) Rains. Ernie loved horse and was a member of the Henry County Saddle Club, a 4-H volunteer and Instructor as well as a Blacksmith. He worked for Chrysler Corp until his retirement after 35 years of service. He served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Navy. He married the love of his life Joyce Losy and enjoyed 20+ years of marriage until she passed in 2014. Ernie is survived by his children William (Cindy) Hoppes-Rains & Christina “Chris” Rains; 4 grandchildren; Alainia Hoppes, Lacee Dolehanty, Jonathan Nelson & Jessica Rains: 2 great-grandchildren: Emmie Davis & Geovanni Filler as well as several nieces nephews and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his parents, and his wife Joyce In honoring Ernie’s wishes, there will be no public services. A burial of cremains will take place at a later date.
