Jeanne Burrage Obituary

Jeanne (Schmidt) Burrage, 81, passed away peacefully in Canon City, Colorado. She was born September 25, 1940 to Richard A. and Beatrice Grace (Moses) Schmidt in Waukegan, Illinois. Jeanne grew up in Zion, Illinois, and several other states before moving to Pompano Beach, Florida where she met her future husband, Albert. They married in 1964 and had a daughter. Jeanne became an Army wife and traveled to other states (Georgia, Colorado, and South Carolina) and lived in Stuttgart, Germany, for three years before moving back to Woodland Park, Colorado. In 1985, Jeanne moved to Canon City, Colorado, after residing for three years in Columbia, South Carolina. She moved to Florence, Colorado, in 1997. Jeanne became involved with the showing and breeding of Airedale and Irish Terriers. She avidly loved to discuss pedigrees, the intricacies of dog show grooming, and breeding strong healthy bloodlines with her dog show buddies. Jeanne also went back to school and received an EMT certificate, earned a nursing degree, became a massage therapist, and, in her later years, revived an earlier career of dog grooming. Jeanne had a great love for family and friends. She was very devoted to supporting her loved ones and helping them whenever possible. Jeanne loved to recount stories about her little brothers as they were growing up and enjoyed hearing the exploits of her grandsons, various nieces and nephews, and of course, all of her friends' children and grandchildren. Jeanne cared very deeply for the welfare and lives of her family and friends. Jeanne was preceded in death by her mother Beatrice, father Richard, younger brother Douglas, and ex-husband Albert. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nicole (Burrage) and Jeff Worley, and her three grandsons, Aaron Jeffrey, Alexander Lee, and Adam Benjamin. Jeanne is also survived by her stepmother Marion and younger brother Dick. A vigil with rosary will be held at St. Michael Church on February 3, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. A funeral Mass for Jeanne will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 10:00 A.M., at St. Michael Church, Canon City, Colorado, with a graveside interment ceremony following at Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City, Colorado. Arrangements are entrusted to Harwood Funeral Home. Online condolences at www.harwoodfunerals.com.
