Charles A. "Chuck" Simons

<p><strong>Charles A. &ldquo;Chuck&rdquo; Simons, age 85 of Marion, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Marion Health, Marion, Indiana.</strong></p> <p><strong>The son of the late Herbert L. and Freda Delight (Stevens) Simons, Chuck was born on December 16, 1936 in Marion, Indiana.&nbsp; He was a graduate of Marion High School in 1955.&nbsp; He married Almetta Tomlinson on August 7, 1964, and she survives.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>Chuck worked in production and was a foreman at Gen Corp for 35 years until his retirement in 1999.&nbsp; He attended First Christian Church and Sunnycrest United Methodist Church, both in Marion.&nbsp; He was a member of the Elk&rsquo;s Country Club, the Van Buren Sons of American Legion, and the Marion Moose.&nbsp; Chuck was also in the Winnebago Club and had traveled all across the United States.&nbsp; He loved gardening and being outside.&nbsp; Chuck was a master craftsman and could fix or make anything.&nbsp; He also loved to whittle.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>He is survived by his wife, Almetta Simons of Marion; a son, Charles A. Simons of Glendale, California; daughters, Sherry (Jim) McAfee of Noblesville, Joanne (Richard) Olsen of Beaverton, Oregon and Natalie (Eric) Wasson of Westfield; two sisters, Malinda George of Greenfield and Juliann Polm of Oakland, California; 15 grandchildren, Brad and Todd Maddox, Tyler, Briana and Karlee McAfee, Richie and Jeremy Olsen, Charlie and Sirene Simons, Phillip, Hanna and Owen Conn, Adam, Mairin and Amelia Wasson; and six great-grandchildren, Alana (Austin) Billings, Kaitlyn, James and, Alexis McAfee, Lennon and Sylas Covey.</strong></p> <p><strong>He was also preceded in death by a son, Mitchell W. Simons; a daughter, Debbie L. Maddox; four brothers, Lowell Simons, Tony, Jon D. and Terry Polm; and a sister, Norvella Sizemore.</strong></p> <p><strong>Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana.&nbsp; Funeral Services will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Helm officiating.</strong></p> <p><strong>Memorial contributions can be made to Cancer Services of Grant County, 305 S. Norton Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46952; or to Sunnycrest United Methodist Church, 1921 W. Charles A. “Chuck” Simons, age 85 of Marion, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Marion Health, Marion, Indiana.

The son of the late Herbert L. and Freda Delight (Stevens) Simons, Chuck was born on December 16, 1936 in Marion, Indiana.  He was a graduate of Marion High School in 1955.  He married Almetta Tomlinson on August 7, 1964, and she survives. 

Chuck worked in production and was a foreman at Gen Corp for 35 years until his retirement in 1999.  He attended First Christian Church and Sunnycrest United Methodist Church, both in Marion.  He was a member of the Elk’s Country Club, the Van Buren Sons of American Legion, and the Marion Moose.  Chuck was also in the Winnebago Club and had traveled all across the United States.  He loved gardening and being outside.  Chuck was a master craftsman and could fix or make anything.  He also loved to whittle.
