Martha Rees, 86 of Stuart passed away on January 13, 2022 at MercyONE Medical Center in Des Moines. Per her wishes cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com. Martha was born on March 13, 1935 to Ralph and Delma Stanley at the family farm north of Earlham. She attended Earlham Schools and graduated with the class of 1953. On April 9, 1954 she was united in marriage to Warren Rees. The family made their home in Oregon later moving back to Iowa in 1998 and settling in Stuart in 2000. While in Oregon, Martha was employed as the Director of Admitting at Sisters of Providence Hospital in Portland. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and watching the birds and was known for being green, recycling and doing the right thing. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Michael Rees and daughter, Elizabeth McMahon; sisters, Margaret Jones and Barb Throckmorton; and brother, Ralph “Booner” Stanley. She leaves behind her children, Warren (Delynda) Rees of Sidney and Bert Rees (Roy Worrall) of Menlo; one grandchild; six great-grandchildren; half-daughter, Toni (Mike) Frame; siblings: Charles (Beck) Stanley, Helen (Larry) Gilbert and Jim (Kathy) Stanley; and a host of extended family and friends that miss him dearly.
