Myra Dean Christenson Obituary

Myra Dean Christenson (Young), 88, of La Grande, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Wildflower Lodge. At her request, there will not be a service at this time. Myra was born on April 4, 1933 in Enterprise, Oregon to Russel Young and Clara Aschenbrenner. She resided in Zumwalt, Enterprise, Imnaha, Elgin, and La Grande. She attended schools in Zumwalt and Enterprise. She was 9 years old when she moved from Zumwalt to Enterprise and was nervous about going to a big school. It was at Enterprise Elementary where she met her life-long friend, LaRose McClain Ledford. Myra married Carsten Christenson on July 15, 1952. She worked in a dentist office in Enterprise, a drug store in Joseph, Merle Norman in La Grande, and she was a homemaker. Myra loved her chickens, riding her horse, collecting antiques, and spending time with her friends. Myra is survived by her son, Christen Christenson (Nondas) of Elgin, OR; brothers, Ed Young of Lewiston, ID and Doug Young (Sharon) of Clatskanie, OR; sister, Keitha Hastings (Kevin) of La Grande; granddaughters, Chandra Christenson of Pasco, WA and Ashley Christenson of Richland, WA; 4 great-grandchildren; and 8 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carsten Christenson; father, Russel young; and mother, Clara Shevlin.
