Richard W. Schreiner

Born: September 26, 1935<br/><br/>Died: January 12, 2022<br/><br/>Age 86, passed away at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. He was born in Joliet and was a lifelong resident. He attended St. John the Baptist Parochial School, graduated from Joliet Catholic High School and was a U.S. Marine Corps Reservist. He worked as an accountant his whole life, retiring from Cordano, Severson &amp; Associates. Rich was an active member in the church, previously a parishioner at St. John the Baptist Church and St. Mary’s Carmelite. He was most recently an active member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Joliet, where he served as a greeter and an usher. Rich was a lifelong member of the Shorewood Lions Club, serving on numerous committees and projects. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed college football, gardening, trains, jigsaw puzzles and playing cards.<br/><br/>He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Therese (nee Sefcik); his daughter, Nancy Schreiner; brothers, John (Vi) Schreiner and Tom Schreiner; sister, MaryAnn (Lance) Hileman; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Rick) Tomlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.<br/><br/>Preceded in death by his parents, Anthony J. and Barbara A. (nee Schmars) Schreiner; siblings, Clyde Schreiner, Donald Schreiner and Barbara J. Schreiner; and sister-in-law, Charlene (Clyde) Schreiner.<br/><br/>Visitation for Richard W. Schreiner will be Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home from 2-6 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Ave., Joliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery, Joliet.
