Rafael was born on May 18, 1973, in Greenville, MS, the son of the late Viola Marie Hines and Robert Earl Hannah. Rafael grew up in Greenville where he attended the Greenville Public Schools. He attended regular Sunday services at the New White Stone Baptist Church. Rafael was involved in various school activities and church functions prior to relocating to Kansas City, Missouri in summer of 1991. He enrolled into the Kansas City School District where he would meet the love of his life and high school sweetheart Christine Felder. They would marry in November of 1994. Four months later, Rafael would suffer a traumatic injury that would leave him paralyzed. Christine has never left his side. Rafael did not allow his paralysis to slow him down, if anything it propelled him. Rafael and Christine joined New Life in Christ International Ministries in 1999 ______. He served on the following ministries _Heart 2 Heart Marriage Ministry, Youth Ministries, Mens Ministries. ____. In November of 2002, Rafael and Christine welcomed daughter, Christen Maria Hines. Rafael was the epitome of a doting dad. Christen had completely captured his heart. Anyone that knew Rafael knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Equally so, Rafael was loved spending time with his family. He would often host family functions at his home, plan family trips or family outings. Rafael worked various jobs throughout his life before launching his own nonprofit organization, Success Link Outreach in 2016. He was deeply committed to mentoring and offering after school programs tutoring underprivileged students in surrounding communities. Rafael’s vision for Success Link Outreach is “To breakdown barriers, transform perceptions, and change tomorrow for youth, their families, friends, and, the communities in which they thrive.” Rafael had a servant’s heart and lived by 1 Peter 4:10: “Each one should use whatever gift he hasp received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” He was a caring and lovable man who, throughout his lifetime devoted himself to Christ and the people around him. Our beloved Rafael DWayne Hines passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 31, 2021, at the age of 48 in Kansas City, Missouri at Saint Joseph Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife; Christine Hines, daughter; Christen Hines, seven brothers; Willie E. Hines (KCMO), Donald E. Hines (Memphis,TN), Timothy D. (Dawn) Hines of Bartlett, TN, Jeffreye D. (LaTosha) Hines of Olathe, KS, Michael (Tamiko) Hines of Grandview, MO, Kevin A. (Tina) Hines of Grandview, MO Keith D. (Precious) Hines of Memphis, TN and two sisters Markeda A. Hines (Bartlett, TN) Shonda Y. Hines (Mesquite, TX), 32 nieces and nephews, 16 great nieces and nephews, many cousins, a loving and supportive extended family, and other beloved friends and relatives. Those who knew him will remember Rafael for his humility, kindness, simplicity, and eternal smile. He had a natural knack for making people laugh. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. We know that God is pleased to have one of His kind and generous angels back in his arms, where he belongs. He will be sorely missed by those on earth. Preceding him in death was his maternal grandfather; Robert Hinds, maternal grandmother; Rossie Hines, paternal grandfather; Eddie Hannah, paternal grandmother; Catherine Hannah, brother; Ronald Hines. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. New Life in Christ International Ministries, 12401 Byars Rd., Grandview, MO 64030. Visitation 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Interment Twelve Gates Memorial Gardens.
