Ruby Dean Chafen

Ruby Dean Chafen, 83, of Rush Hill, passed away at 12:22 P.M.,Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Tri County Care Center in Vandalia.   As she instructed there will be no services scheduled.  Burial will take place in Laddonia Cemetery.   Arrangements are under the direction of Bienhoff Funeral Home.    Mrs. Chafen was born on March 31, 1938, in Pulaski County the daughter of Earl and Eula Marthell Cusick Null.   Ruby married Charles Lee Chafen on June 14, 1952 in Pulaski County and he preceded her in death on June 15, 2001.   Survivors include three brothers; Jimmy (Linda) Null, Virgil (Vickie) Null, and Joe Null, three sisters; Neoma (Calvin) Beal, Darlene Witt, and Daffany (Gary) Hood, three daughters; Joyce (Steve) Crawford, Betty (Ron) McCormick, and Debby (Ronald) Canary, one adopted great grandson; Joe Mitchell, four grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.    She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Curt Null, Vernon Null, and one sister; Violet Wells.   Ruby was the oldest of ten children, who enjoyed working outside, taking on projects around the house and reading books.  But most of all, she enjoyed helping others obtain their goals of getting their GEDs. She was blessed with many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly. Her favorite song was by Waylon Jennings, “I’m a Believer”.
