James R. Murphy, Jr.

James R. Murphy aka Rabbit, 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center. He was born in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky on October 25, 1945, to the late James Roscoe Murphy and Lucy Mae Penny Murphy. He worked many years for Harrod Carter Concrete and retired from Columbia Gas of Kentucky. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church where he accepted Christ at an early age under Pastor W. Jones. James served in the United States Army Reserve which he joined at the age of 19. James will be Lovingly remembered by his children, Courtney Murphy, Frankfort, Rodneisha Murphy, Lexington, Adora Murphy, Lexington, Cisley Harris, Frankfort, and Robert Murphy, Lexington. Sisters, Patricia Murphy, Lawrenceburg, Paula Murphy, Lexington, Cathy Murphy, Lexington; brothers, Rev. Daniel (Roxana) Murphy, Lexington, Emmitt Murphy, Lexington; grandchildren, Ashley Blair, George T. Blair, Cedric Murphy, Alizea Taylor, Elizabeth Thomas, De’Andre Webb, and great granddaughter Alaya Murphy. His Aunt Mayme Penny, Lawrenceburg, KY, A special friend Elizabeth Brooks, A special cousin Nancy Russell, and a Host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
