Ronald Raoul Theoret

Peacefully, on Sunday, January 2nd, 2022 at the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home in Ste Rose, Ronald Raoul Theoret passed away at the age of 97 years.

Ronald was born on April 23rd, 1924 in St. Isidore de Bellevue, Saskatchewan to parents Isidore Theoret and Emelie Leblanc.  Due to limited agricultural expansion opportunities in the area, on the advise of Isidore's brother, Father Anatole Theoret the Ste Rose parish priest, the family made the move to Ste Rose district in 1937.  Ronald, with his parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters, first settled 3 1/2 miles north of Ste Rose, then moved to Valpoy in 1940, to finally settling to Methley in 1947 where he lived till the fall of 2018.

On November 3rd, 1956, Ronald married Rosalie Deremiens of Laurier, Manitoba and they settled into farm and home life, raising 4 children.  Ronald farmed all his life, running a mixed farming operation, initially with his brother George, and then including his 2 sons Maurice and Lionel.  Ronald loved farming particularly, harvest time where he assisted his sons at the age of 91 years of age driving the grain cart.

Though small in stature he was big in character, strength, independence with strong beliefs and values.  He believed family was important and provide support when needed.  He loved family get togethers with the Theorets or Deremiens.  He was quick to laugh with a twinkle in his eyes.  He was a perennial problem solver and could fix anything, even giving an old item a new purpose.  He was independent but quick to help neighbors whether lending tools or helping at harvest time.  During snow storms, he would plow the Methley road so the school bus could make its route, much to the dismay of all the school children down the Methley road.

Later in life Ronald enjoyed the companionship of Sandra Abraham where they travelled, played cards and gardened.

Ronald leaves a legacy of love, strength and independence with his children, son Maurice, wife Brenda, grandchildren Allison (Warren), Robert (Erin), Amie (Maxwell) and Ryan (Sarah), great grandchildren Ava, Talon, Roman, Russel, Hazel, Reid, and Willow, daughter Annette, husband Dave Chervinski, son Lionel, wife Sharon Pohl, grandchildren Rosalie (Ryan) and Andrew, daughter Louise, grandchildren Kelsey (Derrick) and Trevor (Kayla), great grandchildren Nash, Blair, Brooks and Axel.

He is survived by his sisters Beatrice Rogerson, Lucille VanHumbeck and in-laws Terese, Lydia and Guy Deremiens.  He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his infant child Gilbert, wife Rosalie and siblings Rudolf, Rita, George, Rene and Firmin.

Ronald’s last 8 months was as a resident of Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home.  The family would like to thank the staff for the care and respect bestowed to our father, grandfather and great grandfather during his stay.  And thank you to Dad’s physician, Dr Gudmundson for her care and attention.
