Mom was born in Deloraine, November 29, 1927 to Jan & Marie Schoonbaert. She was the
youngest of 11 children.
She grew up on a farm in the Turtle Mountains and attended Flossie School.
She married Roger Sunaert in May of 1949. They farmed in the Bidford and Kirkwood districts
until their retirement to Deloraine in 1979. Roger predeceased her in February of 1996.
Mom was passionate about the farm and being outdoors her whole life. She helped with the farm
work, milked cows, grew a large garden and raised 5 children.
She loved fishing and could catch more fish and fillet them better than anyone ever. She enjoyed
cards and games, both in person and with her computer and ipad.
Although she was unable to curl due to a childhood injury, she was an avid fan of the game, and
watched as many games as possible, both in the rink and on tv.
Mom was a very quiet private person who liked to be at home. She treasured time spent with her
children and grandchildren.
Mom is lovingly remembered by her children, Judy, Linda, Barry, Karen, daughter-in-law
Darlene, and their families.
She was predeceased by her husband Roger in 1996, son Kenneth in 2009 and son-in-law Wayne
in 2019.
A private family service will be held at 10:30 AM on December 29th at Smith funeral Chapel.
