Mary Elizabeth Lavender, age 91 of Tecumseh passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at the Hospice of Lenawee Home. She was born May 21, 1930 in Jackson, the daughter of the late Deuard LeRoy and Viola May (Gilbert) Francisco. On June 3, 1950 in Manchester, she married Hubert James Lavender and they shared 64 years together until his death on July 19, 2014. Mary retired after many years from Schmidt and Sons in Tecumseh. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Moose Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to go camping, reading, gardening and especially spending time with her family. Mary is survived by two daughters, Debi Brueckner of Tecumseh and Ruth (David) Clauda of Adrian; sister Joan Cooch of Ann Arbor; five grandchildren, Cyndee (Jeremy Risner of Holloway, Rachel (Josh) Palmer of Brighton, Ronda (Nate) Long of Macon, Jim (Angela) Clauda of Adrian and Paul Clauda of Adrian; five great grandchildren, Kelsi and Makenzi Long, Avree Risner, and Graham and Macy Clauda. Besides her parents and husband Hugh, she was preceded in death by her sister Charlene Ecker and brother Duane Francisco. Visitation for Mary will be from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be on Thursday at 11 am at the funeral home with visitation from 10 am until the service time. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.
