<p>John Walter Ross, beloved husband and father, passed away on December 24, 2021, at the age of 78.</p> <p>Johnny Ross will be remembered by his servant&rsquo;s heart. He served the city of Brundidge as a reserve police officer, a member of the search and rescue team, and spent over 25 years as a volunteer fire fighter. For more than 40 years he worked as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic who was known for his expertise. He loved serving others in a variety of ways. His family was most important, and he surrounded himself with those that he loved.</p> <p>Funeral services will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Green Hills Funeral Home with burial to follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge. Pallbearers will be Ross Hixon, Rush Hixon, Logan Ross, Brandon Jordan, Shannon Tew, and Hunter Motes. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 28, 2021, from 5:00-7:00pm at the funeral home, as well as an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Syble Ross; his brothers Jim Ross, Thomas Allen (Bud) Ross and Robert Dale Ross. Loving survivors include his wife of 55 years, Joanne Ingram Ross; children, Laura Hixon (Billy), Robbie Ross (Joni), Scott Ross (Crystal); grandchildren, Hanna Hixon Jordan (Brandon); Ross Hixon (Amy), Rush Hixon, Logan Ross, Merritt Ross, Nolan Ross, Judson Ross, Braxton Ross; great grandchildren, Hixon Jordan, Brooks Hixon, Hampton Jordan, Railey Jordan; sister, Betty Botts (Wyman); and brothers, Jack Wayne Ross (Annette), Randy Ross; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riverview Baptist Church or Children&rsquo;s Hemiplegia and Stroke Association (CHASA.org). Friends and family can sign the guestbook online at&nbsp;www.greenhillsfuneralhome.net. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Ross family.</p>
