Matthew Jerome Caldwell “Smitty”, 46 of Stoney Fork, Kentucky went to his heavenly home on Sunday, December 12, 2021. Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jerome and Lucy Caldwell of Stoney Fork, Kentucky; his maternal grandparents, Forrest and Beverly Harrell of Indianapolis, Indiana; his sister, Sherry Lynn of Stoney Fork, Kentucky; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his parents, Jerome and Tina Caldwell of Stoney Fork, Kentucky; his three children, Tessa Grace Caldwell of Middlesboro, Kentucky, Samuel Matthew Caldwell and Wyatt Jerome Caldwell both of Pineville, Kentucky; his siblings and their spouses, Michael and Jennifer Caldwell of Kettle Island, Kentucky, Lisa and Darin Hoskins of Stoney Fork, Kentucky, Jody Lynn and Joe Long of Somerset, Kentucky; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Matthew was a long-haul coal truck driver, devoted father, loving son, and a wonderful brother and friend. He had a vibrant smile and an infectious personality to all that knew him. His greatest passion and accomplishment in his life were his three children. Matthew was an avid outdoorsman and had a love for sports. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. David Asher and Rev. Donald Wilson presiding. Music will be provided by Tasha Caldwell. Burial will follow at the Caldwell-Brock Cemetery in Stoney Fork with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Caldwell Family.
