Jay Boivin Obituary

Jay Boivin, of Issaquah, Washington, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 72 years of age. He is preceded in death by his father Maurice Boivin, mother Marguerite Fortin, brother Jean and sister Colette. He is survived by his beloved wife Heather Robertson and sister Suzanne Boivin (Philippe Duval) as well as by his nephew Alexandre Racine (Ryan Breithaupt), niece Jade Boivin (Philippe Vincent-Lamarre) and step-daughters Liane Morrissette (Matthew Dalton) and Lindsay Stentz (Casey). He is also survived by his beloved grandsons Henderson and Sounder as well as great-nephew Charles. Jay was an accomplished artist. He began to draw at a very young age and went on to become a singer-songwriter, musician, photographer and graphic designer. He enjoyed an early career as a musician performing on stage and in studio. His passion to play and write music never died and he continued to write and record music throughout his entire life. In later years, he was most notably an impressive and published photographer. He loved street photography but mostly he loved shooting people. Jay was born in Canada and grew up in Montreal, Quebec, but always had a love for California and the West Coast. He left Montreal to move to California in 1995 where he married his wife Heather before settling in the Seattle, Washington area in 2017. Jay and Heather enjoyed many adventures together but especially loved to travel near and far, to spend time with family and friends, go on photo shoots and take long walks together in the beautiful Pacific North West. He was a gentle soul, best friend and a loving and supportive partner and will be greatly missed. To his grandsons, Jay was affectionately known as “Papa”. He had a vivid imagination and will be remembered most dearly for his devotion to playing make-believe and the many hours he spent battling pirates, embarking on treasure hunts and flying around the house. Rest in peace Papa and may you find Never Never Land. A virtual memorial service will be held on December 19, 2021. Later, in the springtime, Jay will return home to Montreal where he will be laid to rest with his parents at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges cemetery on the slope of Mont Royal, a place that was always very special to him. A service will be held at that time and a tree planted in his memory.
