Flossie Mae Medlock Collins Banks was born on June 21, 1925 to the late Will and Louise Medlock. As the eldest of her siblings, she was “Big Sis” to James, Hattie, Joyce, Louis, Thomas, Bettye, Gladys, Dorothy, Nathaniel, and Nancy (who died as a baby).
In marriage to her first husband, Robert Lee Collins, Sr., Flossie become the mother of Robert Lee Collins, Jr. and Gail Collins Struchins. As wife of her second husband, J.C. Banks, Flossie also became the mother of Catherine and Constance. Her four children made her the proud grandmother to Enrique, Tonya, Tomeka, Tomain, Charity Angel, Julius, Jr., and Steven. The family tree is a thing of beauty with many sprouts and blossoms.
Flossie really knew her way around a stove and a fishing hole.
She blessed and was blessed; she gave and she got; she lived and she loved; she kicked – but not high!
