Israel Martinez, 65 of Hillside passed away on December 11, 2021.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Israel at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Friday December 17 from 5-9 PM. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Saturday at 10 AM, and burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park.

Born in New York City, Israel lived in Irvington, Elizabeth and Roselle Park before residing in Hillside for the past two years. He worked as a property management assistant for Rutgers University. Israel was a jack of all trades, and could fix just about anything. A talented painter and carpenter, he enjoyed singing and was also an avid fan of the New York Jets and the New York Mets. Israel was devoted to the Jesus Elam Revival Assembly International Church, where he served as a deacon. Immensely intelligent, Israel liked to joke, but being very versatile, could switch to a deep conversation at a moment's notice. He will be sorely missed, but we rest assured in knowing that Israel is now with Jesus.

Israel was the beloved husband of Gillian Mark; loving father of Israel Martinez, Jr., Albert Martinez and Joshua Martinez; and was the proud grandfather of three. He was predeceased by his sister Ada Holloway.
