Philip Granville “Gran” Mitchell, 78, of Huntsville, AL, passed away on December 10, 2021 in Crestwood Hospital.

Gran was born in Lawton, OK to Philip and Marjorie Mitchell on January, 3, 1943. He attended Hastings High School in Hastings, MI and graduated in 1960.

He went on to earn a degree in accounting from Alma College in Alma, MI and a Masters of Business Administration from Michigan State University. He worked as a CPA for 50 years. He always enjoyed music and played trombone in his high school and college marching and concert bands as well as the St. Charles Municipal Band in St. Charles, MO. He was very active in church throughout his life and always sang in the choir, as well as donating time to help churches with their accounting needs. 

Gran is survived by his wife of almost 55 years Karen Mitchell, his daughter Reverend Traci Loveman and her husband Peter, all of Huntsville, AL, and four nieces, Robin, Joanie, Jamie, and Sandra and their families in CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda Howell.

Funeral service will be held at Hope Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, December 15 at 3 P.M. with Reverend Christie Ashton and Reverend Carl Malm officiating. Visitation will be held immediately following the memorial service at the church from 3:45-5:45. Face masks are required to enter the church.
