Janice A. Lenning

Janice A. Lenning, 86, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 7, 2021 under the care of Southridge Specialty Care and Care Initiatives Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial for Janice will take place on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish - St. Henry Catholic Church. A visitation will take place one hour prior beginning at 10:00 A.M. Janice will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Janice and her family. Janice graduated from St Mary Catholic High School in 1953. Janice met Gaylord Lenning while she was working at the Orpheum Theater in Marshalltown. They were united in marriage at St Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown on July 14, 1954. Janice held a variety of positions over the years to include working at the Lennox Industries office until their corporate offices moved to Texas. She finished her working career employed in the Adjutant's office at the Iowa Veterans Home where she retired. Janice was one of the organists at St Mary and St Henry Churches for many years. She enjoyed reading and shopping, often making a day of it by going to the larger shopping malls. While on vacations, although not a golfer, Janice would caddy for Gaylord by driving the golf cart for him. She also bowled with Gaylord in the Knight Ranger League at the Totem Bowl in Marshalltown. Janice with a ragtag team to the Catholic Order of Foresters, achieved entry into the state bowling tournament, which her team won! Janice is survived by her children: MaryAnne Lenning, Erick (Diane) Lenning, Carolyn Rogers, and Dan (Kathy) Lenning. Also surviving are six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, with one great grandchild on the way. Janice is preceded in death by her loving husband, Gaylord Lenning; parents Daniel &amp; Annette Kersey; her daughter, Patricia Loffgren; her brother, David, in infancy and son-in-law, Rick Rogers. - Lovingly written by the family
