<p>Leonville - Funeral services for Gerald &quot;Gene&quot; Moreau will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel in the Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.&nbsp;Fr. Darren Eldridge will officiate the service.&nbsp; Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. Leo the Great Catholic Cemetery in Leonville, LA.</p> <p>Visitation will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.&nbsp; in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.&nbsp; A Rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.</p> <p>It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Gerald Gene Moreau, age 80, on Monday, December 6, 2021, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville.&nbsp; He was a farmer for many years, loved spending time outdoors, fishing, and enjoying nature.&nbsp; He loved all children and treated all children like his own, especially his grandchildren.&nbsp; He will&nbsp;be&nbsp;greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.</p> <p>He is survived by&nbsp;his son, Kerry&nbsp;Cardinale&nbsp;(Dianne); his daughters,&nbsp;Kim Darbonne (Dwain); and Karen Devillier (Ricky);&nbsp;brother, Joseph &quot;Ned&quot; Moreau&nbsp;(Laura); sister, Dorothy &quot;Dot&quot; Stelly; He is also survived by his&nbsp;6 grandchildren: Kristy&nbsp;Fontenot (Jamie), Cody Darbonne (Emily), Nicole Gil (and companion, Michael), Chawntelle Willingham (Kevin), Joshua Devillier, and Mark Devillier; and 7 great-grandchildren: Lindsey Fontenot, Aubrie Darbonne, Hannah&nbsp;Darbonne, Rhett Darbonne, Kade Gil, Marlie Gil, Kate Willingham, and Hope Willingham; Godchild, Kenneth Stelly (Brenda); nephews: Todd Stelly (Rachel), Jason Stelly (Salina), Brady Moreau (Nellie), and Kevin Moreau; nieces, Stacie Stelly (Craig), Shelia Stelly (Fred), Pam Stelly (Lonnie), and Angela LeBlanc; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.&nbsp;</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Geraldine Cardinale Moreau; his parents, Newton G. Moreau and Mildred Carriere Moreau; his father-in-law, Francisco &quot;Frank&quot;&nbsp;Cardinale&nbsp;and mother-in-law, Hazel Badeaux Cardinale; brothers-in-law, Raymond Cardinale, Salvadore Cardinale, J. C. Stelly; sisters-in-law, Dawn Milto Cardinale and Beatrice L. Cardinale; Godchild, Chris Moreau; and great-nephew, Trent Stelly.&nbsp;</p> <p>Pallbearers will be Cody Darbonne, Jamie Fontenot, Joshua Devillier, Kenneth Stelly, Todd Stelly, and Jason Stelly.&nbsp; Honorary pallbearers will be Brady Moreau,&nbsp;Kevin Moreau and Mark Devillier.</p> <p>Family and friends are invited to sign the online guestbook and view the video memorial at www.lafondardoin.com.</p> <p>LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home, 2845 S.
