Norma Jean Johnston Darnall King Obituary

Funeral service for Jean Johnston King will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2021 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Larry Pasley officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday until the time of services. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Tim Darnall, Seth Darnall, Matt Darnall, George Hargroder, and Austin Mathews. Norma Jean Johnston Darnall King was born on June 24, 1936, in Wheeler, Texas to Ollen Henry Johnston and Edna Mae Sivage Johnston and passed away on December 4, 2021, at the age of 85. She is preceded in death by Daniel W. King, her husband, who passed away in August 1995, her parents, and two siblings, Harry Johnston and Sue Miller. She is survived by two sons: Timothy Keith Darnall of Tioga, Louisiana, and Matthew Craig Darnall (George Hargroder) of Carencro, Louisiana. She also has 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She is survived by 4 of her siblings: Kay (Ed) Denny of Ball, Louisiana, Jessie (Don) Roper of Lenoir, North Carolina, Bonnie Koger, of Prairieville, Louisiana, and Tom (Carolyn) Johnston of Trinity, Texas, and numerous other family members and friends. She begin her work career in Franklin, Louisiana, at Southern Bell Telephone as a telephone operator. When the local office was closed in 1964, she transferred to South Central Telephone Office in Alexandria, Louisiana, as the scheduling and payroll administer. Several years later she transferred to the Bell Supply Office on Brown's Bend Road until her retirement.
