<p>Calvin Curtis Adkins, 81, of 301 W. 12th St. passed away at 7:00 a.m., Tuesday November 30, 2021 at his home in Georgetown, IL.</p> <p>Born January 23, 1940 in Elkhorn, West Virginia, the son of James C. Adkins and Olivia Casey Adkins. He was a devouted Christian. He loved everyone. He loved working for the lord and for the up building of God&rsquo;s Kingdom.</p> <p>His work in God began in the First Missionary Baptist Church in Georgetown, IL, in which he served 81 years. Calvin began singing and praising god at a young age. Calvin was a well-known athlete at Georgetown-Ridgefarm High School. He served as a deacon, trustee and treasurer of First Missionary Baptist Church. After high school he went off to serve in the Korean War. Calvin enjoyed studying the bible with his father every night after work for 20 years. Calvin worked at General Motors as a foreman for 40 years and retired in 1994. Calvin also had a demolition business that serviced the Danville area. Calvin enjoyed building things. He built many homes in Gerogetown , IL., as well as helping his relatives build the new church. Calvin loved to serve the community and had an ability to make anyone feel loved. Calvin loved singing, reading the bible, gardening, sports, and carpentry work.</p> <p>Calvin was widowed by Patty Alvarez in 2012. He had one sister Bonnye Alexander. He is survived by one son, Kenneth Harper Sr. (Linda Gaston), his cousin Dwight Adkins, Suzanne Adkins and a very close cousin Jerry Hudson, Nephews Joey Adkins and Richard Lustfield. 8 grandchildren Kenneth Harper Jr., Kevin Harper, Keith Harper, Sydney Harper, Kenda Martin, Alex Martin, Kerra Harper, and Kyle Harper. Calvin is survived by his spiritual sister Glenda McCloud and his spiritual brother Milton Austin. Calvin loved his pets and also is survived by Cowboy his dog and Regina his cat.</p> <p>Calvin was preceded in death by his father and mother.</p> <p>Calvin loved everyone, Calvin loved to laugh, Calvin touched many lives with his presence here on Earth, and we will never forget Calvin Curtis Adkins.</p>
