Obituary

Robert F. Martinsen Sr. was a pillar of his community. A dedicated family man and devout Catholic, Rob, as he was known to his friends and family, died December 4, 2021 at the age of 63 in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, to Donald and Rosemarie Martinsen in 1958; he grew up in the small town of East Windsor, Connecticut, where he would later meet his future wife and love of his life Theresa (Tammy) Murray.

Rob and Tammy married in August of 1979 after she accepted his second proposal; he knew she was his soul mate and he wasn’t going to take no for an answer. After 42 years, Rob and Tammy’s love never waned; they are a true inspiration to all those that knew them.

In the small town of East Windsor, Rob learned a strong work ethic. He started working in tobacco fields at a young age and that ethic followed him into the military where he served his country for twenty years as an Army Officer. After he retired from the military, Rob continued his service as a contractor and in his spare time he and his wife enriched their lives with their Catholic faith.

Rob instilled the love of music and history into his children. While the history outings were not appreciated at the time, the thirst for knowledge was planted and the cassette tapes of those journeys would become the soundtrack of his kid’s childhood.

Rob is survived by his wife Tammy and will be missed by his children Carolyn Martinsen, Rosalie Bedoya, and Robert Martinsen Jr.; his son-in-law John Bedoya; his grandson Robert Bedoya; and his soon to be son-in-law Wesley Jones. Rob’s siblings Donald Martinsen, Leonard Martinsen, Mary Baran, Gerard Martinsen, Rosemarie Tacey, and Cathleen Carver; their spouses; and his nieces and nephews also mourn his death.

Rob will join his sister, Gail Clark, in heaven.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
