Jane Wilson Bunting, 96 of Hances Point, North East, MD passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021. She was the co-owner and operator, along with her husband Scott, of the North East News Shop for over 30 years, retiring in 1987.

 

Born in Oxford, PA on November 19, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Samuel Clyde Wilson and Mary (Webster) Wilson. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1944 and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Wilson College, Chambersburg, PA in 1947. After graduating, she taught Latin at Westtown Friends School in Westtown, PA. It was there that she developed many lifetime friendships.

 

She married W. Scott Bunting in June of 1948 and moved to Hances Point, where she lived for the next 73 years. She was a member of the Elkton Presbyterian Church and was active in many community organizations, volunteering at the Cecil County Library, participating in the Women’s Civic League and the local Girl Scouts. She was an avid golfer and an early member of the Chantilly Manor Country Club.

 

Survivors include her daughters Susan B. Moore of North East, MD, Nancy B. Titone of Bethany Beach, DE, her daughter-in-law Kari Bunting of Colora, MD, grandchildren Matthew Titone and wife Courtney of Oxnard, CA, Sara Titone and husband John of Landenberg, PA, Sam Titone and wife Kara of Nantucket, MA, Christine Bunting of Brooklyn, NY and Ryan Bunting of Colora, MD, and great-grandchildren Milo, Hunter, Wesley and Simone.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Norman Wilson, her son Walter Scott Bunting IV, son-in-law Milo Titone, and infant grandson Joshua Bunting.

 

Interment will be private in Union Cemetery, Kirkwood, PA
