David Paul Ricker

<p>David P. Ricker, 75, of Blandon, passed away during the late hours of Thursday, December 2, 2021, in the care of Reading Hospital. He met his dancing partner, Cynthia Y. (Turner) at the Field House in Hamburg, and they celebrated 54 years of happy marriage. Born in Reading to the late Paul and Pauline (Blimline), David graduated from Schuylkill Valley High School in 1964.</p><p><br></p><p>Classmates would remember David as a dedicated and talented baseball player—he even made it to the final rounds of tryouts for the Majors! But fate had other plans as he met Cindy and fell in love. In addition to baseball, he was a talented swimmer and bowler.</p><p><br></p><p>David dedicated 28 years to his career at Carpenter Steel where he was responsible for operating various heavy equipment. After his health forced him to retire from Car Tech, he worked as a driver for Beiber Bus and later as a transportation technician for Reading Hospital, finally retiring for good in 2016.</p><p><br></p><p>The most important aspect of David’s life was his family—he was a very supportive father and a doting grandfather.</p><p><br></p><p>David’s memory will be treasured by his wife, Cindy, and their daughters Heather L. Trumbore (Sterling P.) and Holly L. Wagner (Nate M.), both of Shillington. David is also survived by his grandsons, Blake and Bennett Trumbore and Miles Wagner, and brothers Daniel (Joanne) and Thomas (Diane) Ricker.</p><p><br></p><p>In accordance with David’s wishes, there will be no service. Contributes in his memory may be made to Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, 1700 Hawk Mountain Rd. Kempton, PA 19529. The Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, West Reading, is entrusted with arrangements.
