Mrs. Julie Bares of the Town of Belgium passed away at her home Friday, December 3, 2021, while surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old. Juliette was born June 6, 1933 in Port Washington, daughter of Felix and Casamira Brozoskit Griksas. On June 3, 1950, Julie was united in marriage with George Turenne. The couple were blessed with eight children. He preceded her in death in 1997. Julie married Donald Bares on November 25, 1999 and the family lived in the Town of Belgium. Mrs. Bares was an active member of Divine Savior Parish- Holy Cross and a member of the (Port Washington) Senior Center. She had worked at Allen Edmonds, Gilson Brother’s and as a school bus driver when she wasn’t at home raising her children. Julie loved spending time with family, playing bingo and sheepshead, camping, snowmobiling and drinking coffee. She is survived by her husband Donald, children Kathryn (Joseph) Jacque, Judith (James) Sandee, George (Nancy) Turenne, Darlene (Tim) Rothe, Gary Turenne, Debra (Rick) Pawling, Connie (Jacob) Den Boer and Robert (Tracey) Turenne, step-children Gary (Pam) Bares, Bruce (Elizabeth) Bares, Rita (Tom) Theis and Jay (Lori) Bares, 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. Julie is preceded in death by husband George Turenne, granddaughter Tina Brunner, two brothers and two sisters. A Memorial Mass will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, December 14th at Divine Savior Parish - Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 County Hwy B, Belgium. Father Gideon Buya will preside. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH Tuesday from 10AM until services at 12PM. Julie will be laid to rest in St. Rose Cemetery later that day. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers.
