George M. Leslie Perrysburg, Ohio Obituary

George M. Leslie

George Leslie of Northwood Ohio passed away peacefully on December 2, 2021. George was born June 23, 1932 in Perrysburg Ohio. He was a graduate of Perrysburg High School. George grew up with the woman he would eventually be married to for over 60 years. George married Jeanetta Griner, and raised a family of 5 children. George, an army veteran, had a long and happy career as a railroader. He worked for over 40 years as a conductor for the B & O, and eventually CSX railroad. He loved his work, and could sit and tell stories for hours about his adventures. He said he had the best job in the world. It remained his passion even into retirement. Besides the railroad, George loved spending time with his family and friends, at the many celebrations they had throughout his lifetime. He was up for a party anytime he could get a piece of pie. He loved a good fish fry on Friday nights. He also loved square dancing with his wife Jan. In later years, George spent many hours making friends at the Walbridge Senior Center. It became a favorite place to spend his time. George leaves behind five children Clay (Sue Ann), Bryan (Kathy), Kevin (Michele), Mark Leslie (companion, Janet Doss) and Amy (John) Sweeney, six grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He will be missed every time we hear a train whistle. Friends and family will be received Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 4-7 pm, at Witzler-Shank- Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) with a funeral service beginning at 7 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Heartland Hospice.
