L. David Cato Obituary

Louie "David" Cato, 84, of Batesburg, passed away Friday, December 3, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m, on Tuesday, December 7th at Milton Shealy Funeral Home with private entombment to follow in Ridge Crest Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Rev. Vollie Gibbs will officiate. Born in Aiken, SC on January 26, 1937, he was the son of the late George Louie Cato and Georgie Marion Cato. He attended Columbia Barber School in 1961 where he graduated and then ran a successful career at Cato's Barber Shop in Batesburg. Mr. Cato was a member of the Batesburg Masonic Lodge #138 and loved classic cars. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and most recently attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Ridge Spring. Surviving are his dearest friends, Bobby C. Turner (Nancy), Ryan Turner, Auton Turner, Rev. Vollie Gibbs (Abigail), Rev. Tommy Johnson, David Jones, Jessie and Ian Kapaldo, Nikki Hutchinson and Trey Barr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a special aunt, Mary Alyce Johnikin of Ward. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 164 Mt. Pleasant Road, Ridge Spring, SC 29129.
