Douglas Edward Clowers Obituary

Mr. Douglas Edward Clowers, 84, of Frederick, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2016, and has gone home to the arms of his Savior. He was the husband of the late Patricia Anne Rymer Clowers, who passed away on January 3, 2007. They were married on April 3, 1954. Born in Knoxville, TN, on July 2, 1931, he was a son of the late Herbert J. and Mae Belle French Clowers. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Navy, aboard the USS Lanning, as a 3rd Class Sonar man. He was retired as a computer specialist for the government, having worked at HG MRDC, at Fort Detrick. Douglas was a very active member of the South End Baptist Church, for over 30 years, where he has served the church on various committees, was involved with the church choir and had received the title of Deacon Emeritus. He will be missed by his friends in the Gideons Sunday School Class. Surviving are his daughters, Pamela Gianni and husband John, Sherry Scoggins and husband David and Trish Haller and friend Tim, one brother, Jackie Clowers and wife Shirley, sisters, Patsy Seto and Linda Agee and husband George, eight grandchildren, Tony Gianni and Morgan, Clark Haller and Deidre, Jenna Gianni, Alison Haller, Heather Haller, Matthew Haller and fiancee, Julie Simpson, great grandchildren, Scarlett Haller, Clark Haller, Jr., and Travis Haller, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the South End Baptist Church, Frederick. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
