Gastonia, NC Nancy Grace Goble Boyd passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the age of 82. Born on February 14, 1939, in York County, South Carolina, Nancy was the daughter of the late James Linden Goble and Annie Mae Barry Goble. Nancy was a long-time active member of Pisgah A.R.P. Church, where she worked with the Girl Scouts, taught Sunday school and was involved with Pisgah Women’s Ministries. She worked for many years in the Gaston County Schools at Chapel Grove Elementary School. She loved teaching, cooking and working with children. She was a farmer’s wife who enjoyed people, music and laughter. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Mary Helen Alexander; brothers, Brown Neal Goble, Bill Goble and Wylie Goble; sister, Maggie McAbee; brother-in-law, Leonard B. McAbee. Nancy is survived by her beloved husband, Franklin Boyd; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Franklin Boyd and Sarah Boyd of Wilmette, IL; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Mike Patterson, and Karen and David Richardson, all of Gastonia; grandchildren, Cameron Boyd, Emmett Boyd, Connor Boyd, Nathan Patterson (Magaly) and Eli Patterson; sister, Diane Goble of York, SC; niece, Betty Huffstetler of Gastonia; numerous other nieces and nephews; step-grandson, Wayne Richardson, Jr., his wife, Laurent, and their daughter, Ray. Family and friends of Nancy Boyd are invited to attend her visitation beginning at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 7, 2021, in the sanctuary of Pisgah A.R.P. Church with her funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM. The Rev. Rick Lewis will officiate. Interment to follow in the Pisgah A.R.P. Church Cemetery.
