Marsha Louise Dodd Obituary

Marsha Louise Dodd, 79, Kokomo, passed away on Wednesday December 1, 2021, at her home.  She was born on November 2, 1942, in Kokomo, to the late James and Mary Louise (Trayers) Commodore.  On December 20, 1975, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, she married Bruce Dodd, he preceded her in death in February 1987.

Marsha was a 1960 graduate of Kokomo High School and received her Secretarial Certificate from Kokomo Business College in 1961.  As a secretary, Marsha was organized, efficient, and reliable. She worked for Delco Electronics as a staff secretary and retired after more than 25 years of service in 1998.  Marsha was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Goodtimer's Travel Club, and the former Ambassador Travel Club. Her most memorable trips included those to Austria; Newport, Rhode Island; San Antonio, TX.; Long Island, NY; Asheville, NC; Charleston, SC; Michigan and the Grand Canyon with her parents, sister and brother-in-law.  She enjoyed going to Florida regularly, especially Sanibel Island. Marsha loved all animals, especially her favorite companions over the years Susie, Georgie and Shelby. She loved living in Colorado with her roommate and cousin, Joanna, in the heart of the majestic Rocky Mountains.

Marsha is survived by her sister, Marie (Dave) Becker; aunt, Kathryn Ann Clark; cousins, Joanna Hall Edgerly, Mark Clark, Mary L. Magiera, Mike Clark, William James Trayers, Susan Leitz, Diane Masters, and Bob Trayers; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robin (Mary) Dodd, Cheryl Dodd, Terry (Deb) Dodd, and Robin Dodd.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; mother and father-in-law, Bob and RuthAnn Dodd; brother-in-law, Glen Dodd, and several special aunts, uncles and cousins.

Marie and Dave thank Marsha’s compassionate caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care and Guardian Angel Hospice, especially Theresa and Kathy, who were with us as Marsha entered into eternal life. We will always remember their ministry to Marsha in her final hours. We thank our friends and family for whose ongoing prayers have sustained us.  A special thanks to Fr. Elliot Zak for his sacramental ministry, Fr. Christopher Shocklee for his guidance, and Nancy Jones for her kind words.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm on Monday December 6, 2021, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington St., with Fr. Elliot Zak as celebrant.  Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park.  Friends may visit with the family from 11 am to 1 pm on Monday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Monastery of the Poor Clares or St. Patrick Catholic Church. The family requests that masks be worn while at the church. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
