Norman O. Mines Jr
<p>Norman O. Mines, Jr, 67, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on December 2, 2021 at Cabell Huntington Hospital.</p> <p>He was born February 21, 1954 in DuQuoin, IL, a son of the late Norman O. Mines, Sr.</p> <p>In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Norman Elijah Mines, two brothers, Donnie Mines, and Bobby Mines, two sisters, Diana Dobyns and Toni Damm, niece, Michele Kempfer, special brother-in-law, Pete Dobyns his father and mother-in-law, Freelan & Irene Whitt, in-laws, Rufus Whitt, Buck Dobyns, Sherry “Shirley” Dingess, Trace Dingess and Don Fritz.</p> <p>Norman enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing guitar and mandolin, working on cars and playing Santa Claus for thirty plus years. He also enjoyed hunting, working puzzles, playing solitaire and he always had a western playing on his TV.</p> <p>Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Joyce Mines; one daughter, Lisa Atwood of Chapmanville; two sons, Norman (Amanda) Mines of Delbarton and Bobby Lee Mines of Chapmanville; one sister, Margie Dobyns of Steeleville, IL; one brother, John Burns of Sparta, IL; nine grandchildren, Scotty Johnson, Marissa (Jonathan) Holcomb, Miranda Mines, Joshua Atwood, Daniel Atwood, Zachary Mines, Charity Atwood, Emily Mines and Kaylee Mines; Brothers & sisters-in-law, Peggy & Rodney Holeman, Tammy Fritz, Brenda & Ira Bryant, Ernie & Becky Whitt, Wilma Dingess, Jasper Dingess, Linda Mines and Joan Dempsey; and a host of nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Services will be held at 1:00pm, Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Freeman Funeral Home with Greg Dalton officiating. Burial will follow at the Whitt Cemetery, Chapmanville, WV.</p> <p>Visitation will be on Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at the funeral home.</p> <p>Pallbearers will be Norman Mines, Bobby Lee Mines, Scotty Johnson, Joshua Atwood, Daniel Atwood, Jonathan Holcomb, Carlos Turner, Eugene Mazocchi and Ernie Whitt.</p> <p>Special thank you to Freeman Funeral Home and Crawley Creek Freewill Baptist Church.</p> <p>Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.</p>Obituary
