John W Gieselman

John W. Gieselman, Sr. age 77 of Fremont, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Methodist Fremont Health. John was born November 4, 1944 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Robert F. and Betty (VanBibber) Gieselman. He grew up in Fremont and graduated from Waterloo, NE High School. He attended business college in New York. After college he returned to Fremont where he and his brother owned and operated several gas stations in Fremont and Omaha. They sold the stations and John worked for Montgomery Wards and then became a Dodge County Sheriff Deputy. After a paralyzing accident John could no longer be in law enforcement. During his rehabilitation he became an accomplished artist, painter, and master craftsman. John then was a manager in the finance departments of several Dealerships in Omaha. John married Millie (Kleekamp) in 1969 in Omaha. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. He was a house parent at the Fremont Masonic Home and was very involved in the kids lives. Later he became a collector glass dealer and enthusiast. John is survived by his wife, Millie; sons, John W. (Cheri) Gieselman, Jr, Rich Gieselman; and daughter, Julie Gieselman all of Fremont; brother, Rick (Erin) Cusick of Florida; 8 grandchildren, Jamie and Jordan Bentley, Clayton, Caden, Natalin, Logan and Jaylee Gieselman and 1 great granddaughter, Jasie. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Christopher and Jeffrey Gieselman; daughter; Cindy Gieselman; brother, Robert F. “Bob” Cusick and sister, Kathie Riggs. Memorial Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 6, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Visitation will be from 9-10 AM Monday at church.
