Garden City- Don J. Klaus, 85, died on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born on November 17, 1936 in Finney County the son of Anton “Tony” & Eva (Knob) Klaus. He married Helen J. Frank on November 29, 1958 at Emporia. She died on March 3, 2018. Don attended Holcomb schools and then went to work leveling land. He then became a lifelong grain farmer in Finney County. He was a. member of St Mary Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years and was known for his antique tractors and also had many farm animals to tend to. He is survived by his Daughter- Paula & Tony McGee of Moore, Oklahoma, Son- Michael Klaus of Garden City, Brother- Kenneth Klaus of Montrose, Colorado, Sister- Dorothy Decker of Coffeyville, 4 Grandchildren- Terry McGee of Moore, Oklahoma, Megan McGee of Moore, Oklahoma, Matthew Klaus of Garden City and Montana Klaus of Lakin and 10 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, 3 Brothers- Tony Klaus, Albert Klaus & Robert Klaus and 3 Sisters- Margaret Becker, Teresa Norton & Marcella Ricord. Vigil Service will be at 4:00 PM Sunday and Funeral Mass at Noon Monday at St Mary Catholic Church with Rev Jacob Schneider as Celebrant. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Memorials are suggested to St Mary Catholic School in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
