Irene (Leal) Vieira, 98, formerly of Preston St., Fox Point and of the Rumford Towers, died peacefully Friday night, Dec. 11, 2015 at the Hattie Ide Chaffee Home. She was the wife of the late Jose Vieira. Born Oct. 13, 1917, in East Providence, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Agnes (Rose) Leal. She had been a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and was the manager for 40 years of the Holy Rosary Drum and Bugle Corps. She leaves her daughter Arlene Verissimo of Ft. Myers, FL; her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Dianna Vieira of Foster; four grandchildren, Robert, Richard, Robin and Marlo; and her three great grandchildren, Zachary, Connor and McKenna. She was the mother-in-law of the late Robert Verissimo. She was also the sister of Madeline Gomes of East Providence, and of the late Margaret Castro, Alice Janots, Agnes Lucrkut, William Leal and Joseph Leal. Her funeral will begin Monday at 9am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Traverse St., Providence. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday morning, 8am until 9am.
