Bobby George Pigg, 88 of Mustang, Oklahoma peacefully passed away on November 28, 2021, at the age of 88. Bob was born on August 14, 1933, to Alvin and Ethel Pigg in Dow, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by Thelma Powell, Lorene Gunter, James Pigg, Clyde Pigg, Betty McCloud, Wanda Reed, Marylee Parkison and nephew, Howard Lee. He graduated from Central State University with a Bachelor of Arts & Master of Science. He served as an Aero-medic with the United States Air Force for 20 years. Served as an Air-Evac medic in Vietnam. He received many awards and citations including the Bronze Star Medal, 2 air medals and the Senior Air Crewmember badge. From 1975 – 1991, he was the Mustang High School Girls Basketball Coach and Drivers Education Teacher. While at Mustang, he won the State Championship for Girls Basketball in 1980, 1981,1986, 1988; State Runner-up 4 times. His total record was 359 wins and 83 losses. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1992; inducted into the Oklahoma High School Girls Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1994; inducted into the City of Mustang Hall of Fame in 1991; inducted into the Mustang High School Hall of Fame in 2018; named Oklahoma High School Girls Basketball Coach of the Year in 1988; Big All City Coach of the Year in 1977, 1981, & 1986; Oklahoma Girls All State Coach – 1980; Texas-Oklahoma All Star Coach – 1980; Conference Coach of the Year for 12 years. He served on the Girl’s Coaches Association Board of Directors for 8 years; served as President of Girls Basketball Coaches Assoc. for 3 years. His girls’ teams played in the Oklahoma State Tournament for 13 years; played in the State Finals 7 out of 10 years in the 1980’s. He coached 19 All-Staters and 1 Converse All-American. He coached the Oklahoma team in the Junior Olympics in 1999 and took 4th place; coached the OK Wildcats AAU team to 2 National BCI Championships in 1994 & 1995 and the OK Air Sooners 15 and Under AAU team to a National Championship in 1999. He married Mona Rae Stark August 3, 1956. They loved to travel and did so on many cruises, attended OU Football, OU Men’s and Women’s Basketball games for many years. He loved to play golf. He volunteered at Mustang Kiwanis Club, Habitat for Humanity, Neighbor for Neighbor and is a member, past Elder and Chairman of the Board for Mustang Christian Church. He is survived by Mona Rae; son, Keith Pigg and daughter in-law, Greta; 6 nieces and 5 nephews and their families. Visitation will be Monday, December 6th from 1:00 – 8:00pm at McNeil’s Funeral Home in Mustang, OK. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 7th at 1:00pm at Mustang Christian Church with interment following at Mustang City Cemetery. In additions to flowers, donations may be made to Mustang Christian Church.
