Celebration of The Life and Legacy of Bishop Startus Hutcherson. Sweetly he sleeps, no more pain or sorrow, secure in God's loving arms.

Bishop Startus Hutcherson was born August 16, 1939, in Providence, Ky to the late Nashville Hutcherson and Annie Belle Hampton-Beckner.  He departed this life Thursday, December 2, 2021, at home with his loving wife First Lady Sylestine Mooney-Hutcherson and loving son Donnie Hutcherson by his side, all his children were able to visit their father before he departed this world to be with his Heavenly Father. He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Providence, Ky.

Bishop Startus Hutcherson graduated from Rosenwald High School in 1959, he then worked construction and helped build the Kentucky Dam in Beaver Dam, Ky. He was a Construction worker for The Industrial Contractor, and a Golden member of Union 561 for over 70yrs. He retired and was given a golden watch for his service, along with those accomplishment. Bishop Startus Hutcherson owned his own Construction business for over 50yrs.

He united in Holy Matrimony to First Lady Sylestine Mooney-Hutcherson on June 17, 1961, through their union they were blessed with 6 children. They later moved their family to Louisville, Ky where he received his certificate as a Master Electrician.  While living in Louisville, Ky his sister Martha Starks invited him to attend a revival under Evangelist Gene Ewin, he walked down for prayer and asked to be delivered from smoking cigarettes and never smoked again.  Amazed by his spiritual experience he started to seek the Lord for his own salvation and the Holy Spirit. He moved back to Providence, Ky, and under the Leadership of Evangelist Reverend Eugene Marable, accepted his call into the ministry to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ on August 24th, 1971, and was appointed as the Evangelist over District 2 until he was assigned to Cairo Church of God in Christ where he led that flock for over 40yrs.

Being led by God through the guidance of the Holy Spirit he established The House of Prayer in Providence, Ky (A Church for All God’s People) were he served for over 15yrs. His mission was to Preach to all God’s People no matter the race, creed, or Denomination compelling them to accept God as their Personal Savior. 

His memories will forever be cherished by his loving wife First Lady Sylestine Hutcherson.  Children:  Minister Tony E. Hutcherson who preceded him in death, Donnie R. Hutcherson, Tina L. (Minister Kevin) Beard of Desoto, TX, Chorla A. Hutcherson of Meridian, MS, Anna B. (Minister Harold) Thompkins of Macon, GA, Startus (Cherry) Hutcherson Jr. of Alabama, and Celeste L. Hutcherson of Macon, GA.  Siblings:  Martha Starks of Providence, KY a brother Cecil Ward of Louisville, KY.  He has two sisters Almeta Mitchelle and Della R. Frazier and a brother Richard Hutcherson who preceded him in death.  He has 14 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins that loved him dearly.               

His life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 11 at Elliott Mortuary Chapel in Madisonville.  Minister Kevin Beard will officiate.  Burial will be in Cumberland Hill Cemetery in Providence.  Visitation and wake services will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.  Elliott Mortuary in Madisonville is in charge of his arrangements and where condolences can be shared at www.elliottmortuarycares.com.  Live streaming of the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Central Time on Elliott Mortuary Madisonville facebook page.
