ARTHUR E. MATEY, 77 of Weirton, WV passed away Wednesday December 1, 2021. He was born June 4, 1944 in Weirton, WV, the son of the late Emery and Emma Cselneyak Matey. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dr. Barbara Ann Tokar Matey (2013); sisters, Joy Emily Yetman, Nancy Jean Saxon. Art was a faithful and active member of Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, Steubenville, OH; Serbian Men's Club where he served as a past treasurer. He was a dedicated "chicken roaster" at the summer weekly chicken blast; Over the Hill golfing gang. Art served his country in the United States Army. He retired as a foreman at Weirton Steel Corp. Surviving are his brother, Eugene (Anna Mae) Matey of Weirton, WV; nephews and niece, John Saxon (Natalie), Richard Saxon (Noreen), Eric Matey, Renee Stokes (Wes); several great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday December 3, 2021 at the Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, 528 North Fourth Street, Steubenville, OH. Additional visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the church. Very Rev. Stavrophor Rajko Kosic will preside. Interment will follow at the Serbian Cemetery, Weirton, WV where he will be laid to rest next to his wife. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, 528 N 4th St., Steubenville, OH 43952 OR Hancock County Animal Shelter, 715 Gas Valley Road, New Cumberland, WV 26047.
