<p>Mrs. Helen C. Maxwell, 94, of Galesburg, Illinois died 12:16 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family. </p> <p>She was born March 27, 1927 in Galesburg to Ernest S. and F. Janet (Charles) Bullock. She married Robert E. Allen in 1943. She later married Leroy Maxwell, October 23, 1965 in Knoxville, Illinois. He preceded her in death July 26, 1988. </p> <p>Surviving are two sons, Michael Allen of Galesburg and Danny L. (and Cindy) Allen of rural Knoxville, a daughter, Susan L. (and “Nub”) Burmood of Knoxville, eleven grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Patrick R. Allen on March 8, 1993 and a granddaughter, Lynnette McKee. </p> <p>Helen attended school in Wataga, Illinois and earned her GED in 1992. She was a supervisor for the State of Illinois Mental Research Hospital in Galesburg for over 40 years. She was of the catholic faith. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. </p> <p>Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 3, 2021 at Oak Lawn Memorial Garden, Galesburg. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate. Memorials in Helen’s name, may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
