Roma Lee Garcia
Roma Lee Garcia, 91 of Reno, Nevada joined her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Roma was born in Wanette, Oklahoma on May 12, 1930 to Lloyd & Anne Burton. The family moved to the beautiful Salinas Valley in California when she was 12 years old and she resided there for 70 years. She graduated from Salinas High in 1948 and went on to work as a waitress, telephone operator and then had a 30 year career as a loan officer and manager for Independent Savings & Loan, retiring from Sears Savings and Loan. In 1949 she met and married George Adams and they had 4 children. After losing George in an auto accident in 1969 she found love again marrying Julio Garcia where she gained 5 more beautiful children. She was a lifelong member of First Southern Baptist/Valley Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir but her passion was leading the youth group. She was young at heart and loved teaching and joining them on retreats, even designing the family cabin so they could all gather there. Roma was in several bowling leagues early in her life and after retirement she enjoyed photography and became an avid artist painting several beautiful pictures. Roma was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd & Anne Burton, husbands George Adams and Julio Garcia, her sons David Adams and Frank Garcia, grandson Jason Garcia and brothers Gene and Bob Burton. She is survived by her children Deborah Adams, Larry Adams and Terry (Rick) Babione all of Reno, Brenda (Brandon) Hawkins of El Dorado Hills, Julie Richards and Mike (Patti) Garcia of Salinas, Tuffy (Debbie) Garcia of Willows and Nancy Sweatman of Red Bluff, 14 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. Celebration of Life will be held 11:00a.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Struve & Laporte Chapel, 41 W San Luis St. Salinas, Ca. 93901. Buried following services at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damien, Salinas, CA. 93907. Roma was my neighbor for a very long time, we both moved an lost touch. She always had a smile and a good word. It was such a joy to run into her each day. I am very sorry for your loss.
