Sister Mary Eliza Wilson Whitlock passed away peacefully at Glenwood Medical in West Monroe, Louisiana, on November 27, 2021, at the age of 86. Her untimely passing was Heaven calling home a true soldier.

Sister Mary Eliza Wilson Whitlock was born November 10, 1935, to the late Emmerline and Dunn Wilson on the Henry Woman Plantation in Gilbert, Louisiana.

She was baptized at an early age at the Bayou Mason as a member of New Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. L.M. Major. She was a faithful member; she served as an usher and choir member under the leadership of Dr. King S. Dawson, where she remained until her death.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Whitlock, II; mother, Emmerline Wilson; father, Dunn Wilson; two sisters, Mary Eackels and Eula Joseph; two sons, John and Promise Lee Whitlock; two daughters, Betty Jean Whitlock and Barbara Whitlock Edwards; one son-in-law, Faye Edwards, Jr.; one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Whitlock; one great-great-grandson, Raymond Pryer, Jr., “RJ”; and a special brother, Nelson Rose.

Mary is survived by: five children, Eugene Whitlock, III (Yolanda) of Pineville, Louisiana, Marshall Whitlock (Shirley Ann) of Gilbert, Louisiana, Emeline Whitlock Graves (Bobby) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Elijah Whitlock (Bobby Jean) of Rowlett, Texas, and Lisa Whitlock Doyle (Edward) of Gilbert, Louisiana; two bonus daughters, Lenny Skipper (Luis) of Monroe, Louisiana, and Veronica Atkins of Clayton, Louisiana; a special niece, Sharon Mallard of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; a special nephew, Erwin Whitlock of Dallas, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 31 great-great-grandchildren; two special bonus sisters, Bernice Rose of Gilbert, Louisiana, and Frankie Pleasant of Winnsboro, Louisiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mary enjoyed fishing, traveling, watching sports, and spending time with her family
